Youth Services
We believe youth development programming and comprehensive sexuality education are critical to helping adolescents make healthy choices. Our programs partner with schools, health services, and a range of community organizations to provide youth ages 10-21 with the tools and resources needed to grow into healthy adults.
Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP)
Available in Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties
The CAPP program focuses on pregnancy prevention and the promotion of sexual health among adolescents ages 10 to 21, including those pregnant and parenting. We partner with local school districts to provide age-appropriate, medically accurate, non-biased, sexual health education to students in Health classes to meet New York State Health Education Standards. Evidence-based and promising practice programs include Be Proud! Be Responsible!, Making Proud Choices, Safe Dates, Girls Circle, and Me Too!.
CAPP Sexual Health Educators are available to meet with adolescents one-on-one to discuss decision making, healthy choices, and complete referrals. Our CAPP educators work closely with LGBTQ+ young people by co-facilitating Gender and Sexuality Alliances in schools and volunteering with community groups.
