Child and Family Services
The Gouverneur Activity and Learning Center is a drop-in (not a drop-off) center offering a variety of programming and activities designed for young children and their families. The center is funded through a grant administered by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services through the William B. Hoyt Memorial Children and Family Trust Fund. The Gouverneur Activity and Learning Center offers the Gouverneur community a healthy, warm, welcoming, family-oriented community center that encourages parents to drop in for companionship and peer discussion and support, while offering free play and playgroups for young children. The Center also offers access to education resources and materials along with communication with supportive, informed staff.
What the Gouverneur Activity and Learning Center (GALC) offers:
> Fun, family atmosphere in which to interact with your child
> Information and referral to community services
> Answers to questions about your child
> A place to talk with other parents, caregivers and staff
> Parenting classes and information sessions
> A lending library, including: literacy bags, books, videos, dvds...
> A resource library with information on a variety of child related topics
> Opportunities for field trips
